Members Present: Nancy La Bombard, Chairperson Pat Flath, Todd Hall, Jens Sorensen, Judy Meagher

A public hearing before the Variance Board of the Town of Santa Clara, County of Franklin, State of New York was held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 7:00 PM at the Santa Clara Town Hall, Route 30, Saranac Inn, New York, to consider the following application.

Application of Eagle Island, Inc. would require 3 variances for a seasonal dock.

1. Extension from the shoreline from 30 ft. to 37 ft. (Note existing is 32 ft.)
2. Lateral dimension from 15% to 25.4%
3. Area from 500 sq. ft. to 568 sq. ft.

This variance would be on the applicant's property at 442 Gilpin Bay Road, Saranac Lake, NY 12983, Town of Santa Clara, Franklin County, New York Tax Map 463.-2-11.

The proposed 3 variances are:

1. Extension from the shoreline from 3 0 ft. to 37 ft. (Note existing is 32 ft.)
2. Lateral dimension from 15% to 2 5.4%
3. Area from 500 sq. ft. to 568 sq. ft.

The Variance Committee Members having taken into consideration the benefit to the applicant, as weighed against the detriment to the health, safety and welfare of the neighborhood or community and having considered the five factors has decided to GRANT variance #1; GRANT variance #2; GRANT variance #3

The decision does not preclude on our part any APA or other authoritative approval. It is the responsibility of the applicants or owners to contact other state, county and/or local agencies to secure any necessary permits.

Application of Krystyna Houser, Summer Vibes, LLC would require a variance from the edge of the water. The distance change requested would be from 75 feet to 50.8 feet for the construction to extend an existing front porch to connect to a new deck to use as an outdoor dining/social area off of the kitchen of the primary residence (Main Lodge). The building is at an angle to the edge of the water. The point of the existing front porch that is closest to the water edge is 48.3'. The point of the proposed new deck that is closest to the water edge is 50.8' . (no increase to the existing non-compliant condition) . This variance would be on the applicant's property at 3 Dunlap Rd, Saranac Lake, NY 12983, Town of Santa Clara, Franklin County, New York Tax Map 454-1-1.

The proposed 3 variances are:

1. A variance from the edge of the water from 75 feet to 50.8 feet for the construction to extend an existing front porch.

1.NO OTHER TREES WILL BE TAKEN DOWN OR REMOVED FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXTENDING AN EXISTING FRONT PORCH.
2. THE EXTENDED FRONT PORCH WILL REMAIM ROOFLESS.
