TOWN OF SANTA CLARA BOARD MEETINGS
Minutes of the Regular Monthly Meeting of the Santa Clara Town Board held on Thursday, March 12, 2020, Saranac Inn, NY Town Hall at 6:30 P.M.

Regular monthly meeting called to order by Supervisor McGill at 6:30 P.M
Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
Motion by John Murray, seconded by Rick Lyon to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting. All members voting Aye. Motion carried. Motion by Rick Lyon, seconded by John Murray to accept the minutes. All members voting Aye. Motion carried
Thank you letter was received from Francis House in Syracuse, New York for the donation made by the Town in memory of former Town Board Member Tom Kimpton. The donation was greatly appreciated and will help to assist others in need.
Land Donation to the Town - Supervisor McGill received an email from a person in the Hamlet who wanted to donate 0.46 acres of land to the Town. After discussion with the Town Attorney and the Board, the Board respectfully declined to accept the offer.
Salt Shed: Supervisor McGill and Highway Superintendent LaMay have been researching and gathering data on slat sheds. The committee will meet Tuesday, March 17th to review the findings.
The regular board meeting for April 2020 will be the third Thursday, April 16th. All Board Meetings will start at 6:30 P.M.
Michelle Brown Garcia reminded everyone that there will be 2 boater safety courses this summer and a 3rd one if necessary. New York State passed BriannaŐs law in 2019. The law will be phased in over 5 years and by 2025 everyone regardless of their age must take and pass the NYS Safe Boating Course if they operate a motor boat in New York State. The course can also be taken on line. The information can be found under the website Parks.NY.GOV
Scottie Adams reported that the Planning Board will soon be reviewing the Town Land Use Code on short term rentals. They hope to have some rules in place by the summer of 2021.
Guy Middleton reported that the Upper Saranac Lake water quality update for 2019 is out. Brochures with the data are available from Guy.
Good of the Town
Scott LaMay had 2 quotes on a new equipment trailer for the Highway Department. On a motion by Rick Lyon, seconded by John Murray the Board authorized Scott to purchase the equipment trailer from Rock Trailer Sales in Keeseville, NY for $10,839.52. All members voting Aye. Motion carried.
Scott reported there is still an issue with the new oil/water separator system in the new garage. The contractor has not given Scott an answer on how the issue will be resolved. Supervisor McGill will contact the contractor about the issue.
Scott reported that the roads this year had a lot of ice cover from all the freezing rain. The Highway Dept. used the CountyŐs grader and was able to scrape the roads down. This has also caused him to run low on salt this year. Scott advised for the future he either needs to order more salt or find a used grader to purchase.
General Fund vouchers No. 64 to 8 in the amount of $94,963.67 and Highway Fund vouchers No. 26 to 37 in the amount of $6,795.27 were audited by the Board. Motion by John Murray seconded by Rick Lyon to approve vouchers and pay audited vouchers. All members voting Aye. Motion carried.
